My Venus Frog illustration from 2024, edited onto my photo of me next to 'The Birth of Venus', by Botticelli, in the Uffizi Gallery.

In March/April, 2025, I visited Florence, Italy, with a friend. We had a proper, student trip staying in hostels & Airbnbs, seeing the sights on a budget! The Uffizi Gallery in Florence was the place I was most excited to visit, containing works from Renaissance geniuses such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, all of the Ninja Turtles. However, 'The Birth of Venus' was the piece I was the most excited to see!

I had illustrated Frog Venus in 2024, when designing star sign birthday cards, and for Virgo, I depicted the scene of 'The Birth of Venus'.

I decided when I knew I was going to see this incredible painting, an opportunity I wouldn't get often, I would take a photo to edit my illustration onto, using Photoshop.

I could've always taken a photo of the painting from the internet and used that, but something about editing my design onto my photo, and having me in the photo as well, just felt so much more authentic, and really helped add to the comical, playful side of the piece.

I also recently used Adobe Express, separating the design into exported layers, to use the quick-animate tools and bring the piece to life.

Thank's for reading this post! I hope you like my silly, fun designs :P
